Our Mission

The Youth Space is a safe, sober, and inclusive space for youth ages 10-12, and ages 13+. All our activities and events are run by local youth in community, based off their own passions and interests.

If youth have ideas for a fabulous event or there’s a skill you want to learn, the Youth Space is the place to make those ideas a reality!

Learn More

β€œ
The Youth Space has been more than an afterschool hangout to me, it is a space where I can go to relax and talk to people when I have had a bad day. Every time I am there I feel like the staff have my back and are there to support me and others.

Our Impact

The Youth Space provides early and timely intervention and prevention programs to better support the needs of youth in our community.  Better health outcomes for youth mean better health outcomes for the wider community. Through our partnership with the City of Surrey and Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, youth have been able to engage through hands-on leadership, contributing over 2000 volunteer hours to plan, facilitate, and run events.

Our Programs

We’re open every weekday for groups. Check out our schedule & open times here. There are always activities such as karaoke, trivia, jeopardy, bocce ball and painting!

We are also here to help to finish your resume, find a job, apply for income assistance, find housing, connect to mental health resources, learn to cook or if you just need a friendly person to chat to ... or come along and just hang out and meet some new friends :-)

drop-in

Drop-in is a casual group for youth to hang out, make friends, and explore their interests. We have snacks, activities, games, and art supplies available! You can also get support from staff with your resume, looking for housing, or accessing resources.

food programs

Food is such an important part of our Youth Space - we always have healthy snacks and meals here for youth to eat or take home. Here, youth can learn valuable life skills including cooking, meal prep, and budgeting; as well as reduce the amount of food that ends up going to waste.

leadership

As a Youth Space by youth, for youth β€” youth make the decisions on activities here and give input on our policies and guidelines. Whether you want to learn new skills, plan a fun event, or start a new club or program, there’s lots of ways to get involved!

resourcing

On quiet afternoons at the Youth Space, youth can drop by or make an appointment to get support with employment, education, housing, life skills, harm reduction, mental health and well being, and more. You can also get connected to a youth worker, counsellor, or other supports in community.
