Volunteer With Us

We don't work exactly like other volunteer opportunities because we're by youth for youth.

That means you can tell us what you want to do here and we can help support you to make it happen.

Youth Volunteers

Youth Volunteers can make up their own roles and we can help support them to make a project they’ve been wanting to get underway started.

We offer a free Space for youth to meet with other youth, and to host events. For example, if you are a tutor and need a place to meet with your student this might be a good place for that.

You can get volunteer hours for your school graduation, your resume, or applications here too!

Some current volunteer opportunities include:

Kitchen

From making food to planning dinners, researching cultural food practices, networking with community leaders to cook and volunteer in the Space, there’s lots to do in our kitchen.

Gardening

We're in the beginning stages of a community garden project. In partnership with the city of Surrey, the Youth Space has acquired 6 planters! We are looking for two youth who either have or want to develop knowledge about community gardening. The volunteer position would entail a commitment of approximately two hours a week of garden maintenance (watering, weeding, pruning, harvesting, storing).

Starting or Supporting a Group

We have had groups like book club, photography club, and a theatre collective. You’re welcome to start your own group here as well.

Leadership

The Youth Collective meets to decide on policies and plan and approve and put on events and projects in the Space. There are opportunities to advocate for youth, attend public meetings, conferences and workshops.

Homework Club

Tutor and support peers and younger grades with all subjects.

Networking

Help build the community of the Youth Space by connecting with different members of our community.

Social Media and Blogging

Help run our social media and our blog. We are launching a blog and want to cover, edit and share a wide range of topics ranging from what to wear to Queer Prom, to social advocacy.

Any of our currently running programs are also well suited to peer mentorship, and we have opportunities to teach younger youth or those with different abilities in any number of programs.
